Should the Buffalo Bills looking into adding veteran wide receiver Adam Thielen to their stable of wide receivers for the final stretch of the season? Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports thinks so, as he listed the Bills as a top potential landing spot for Thielen.

Thielen was waived by the Minnesota Vikings in order to pursue a larger role elsewhere before he calls it a career, as he plans to retire after the current campaign.

The Bills would offer Thielen a chance to close his career playing for a contending team. Plus, he could potentially get some on-field opportunity in Buffalo.

From Benjamin:

“The Bills are scraping by when it comes to their pass catchers, recently adding Brandin Cooks to the mix as a late-year depth piece. Thielen’s possession skills might be redundant with those of Khalil Shakir, but with Joshua Palmer still hurt and Keon Coleman streaky as a big-play option, Buffalo could use all the emergency help it can get.”

The Bills just recently added another veteran pass-catcher in Brandin Cooks, so it remains to be seen if they would actually want to add another veteran to the receiver room. But, Buffalo has struggled with some inconsistent wide receiver play and injury issues this season, so bolstering the position as much as possible might not be completely out of the question.

Plus, adding Thielen wouldn’t require any sort of a long-term commitment from the team, as Thielen plans to hang up his cleats after the season. In that way, it could be a relatively low-risk, high-reward move for the Bills.

Thielen’s best days as a receiver are clearly behind him, but he could still have something to offer, especially for a QB who can get the most out of his receivers like Josh Allen. Thielen is just two years removed from a 1,000-yard season with the Carolina Panthers in 2023. Even last year he was a productive player as he had 48 receptions for 615 yards and five touchdowns for Carolina.

In addition to the Bills, the Pittsburgh Steelers, Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos were also listed as potential landing spots for Thielen by Benjamin.
