LSU football beats out Texas, holds on to four-star tackle

LSU football officially signed four-star tackle Brysten Martinez, beating out Texas for the talented offensive lineman.

Martinez committed to LSU in February and held firm on his pledge after LSU fired Brian Kelly. However, with some uncertainty around LSU’s coaching staff, Texas made a strong push to flip the Louisiana product.

Lane Kiffin and company held off the Longhorns and got LSU’s top-ranked offensive line recruit across the finish line.

Per Rivals Industry Rankings, Martinez is the No. 10-ranked tackle in the class. He’s a top-100 overall recruit and the No. 4-ranked player in the state of Louisiana.

247Sports is the highest on Martinez, slotting him as the No. 82 overall prospect.

The Early Signing Period began on Wednesday. Kiffin has only been on the job a few days, but LSU is already building momentum on the recruiting trail. Martinez was the second signee of the Kiffin era, following wide receiver Jabari Mack. Both are Louisiana products.

LSU’s offensive line struggled in 2025. The Tigers could return a fair amount of production in the trenches, but there opputunuties to earn playing time for newcomers.
