Under Xabi Alonso’s management, Madrid arrived in Bilbao looking to strengthen their title push and their No9 delivered instantly.

How the goal happened
Mbappe picked up possession near the halfway line gliding past his marker with trademark change of pace before driving directly at the retreating back line.
The Frenchman accelerated into space, carried the ball to the edge of the penalty area and drilled low left footed finish past Unai Simon beating the Athletic goalkeeper at his far post.
