After two high-effort, high-drama, high-emotion games, there’s every chance that today’s visit to Elland Road will result in a comedown and a letdown. It’s tough to keep up those levels, especially when the occasion is not nearly as grand.
One way to combat this problem is through rotation, to keep legs and motivations fresh. Rotation of course introduces other problems (by definition, the backups are never as good as the starters), but Leeds are one of the worst teams in the league, so surely we have to do that, at least to an extent.
And indeed, that’s what the WAGNH Community have voted for, opting to give starts to Liam Delap, Malo Gusto, and Josh Acheampong, as well as Andrey Santos — though he would have needed to be called on regardless thanks to Moises Caicedo’s suspension.
Cole Palmer (45%) just misses out, and that’s probably for the best. He can come off the bench in the second half to start getting back into the swing of things.
