Inter Milan head coach Cristian Chivu praised his side’s attitude after a fantastic 5-1 Coppa Italia win over Venezia.
Speaking to InterTV via FCInterNews, the 45-year-old confirmed he prioritized the performance over the result last night.
Chivu’s side lived up to their tag as pre-match favorites, putting the second-tier outfit to the sword.
Indeed, summer signing Andy Diouf opened the scoring with his inaugural goal in Italian football.
Then, Francesco Pio Esposito put clear daylight between the teams with a phenomenal half-volley.
Marcus Thuram scored twice in succession to make it 4-0, returning to the scoresheet for the first time after almost three months.
Although Venezia pulled one back through Richie Sagrado, Ange-Yoan Bonny sealed Inter’s emphatic victory off the bench.
Despite failing to find the net, Davide Frattesi provided two assists on his long-awaited return to the starting lineup.
Therefore, Chivu had no reason to be frustrated after the game, as his team followed instructions to the letter.

Chivu urged his side not to take this fixture lightly before the kick-off, and his players responded with focus and intensity.
“I’m not focused on the result, but on the performance and attitude,” Chivu said after the match. “And I’d say we put in a good performance.
“We want to honor the competition in the best way, and today we did that properly.”
Then, he hailed the youngsters, who entered the pitch in the second half.
“There are no experiments: we look at the players’ characteristics and try to get them to perform at their best.
“Everyone did fairly well, including the young players who got a taste of San Siro.
“They need to adapt to professional football, and they have teammates who can help them understand what it means to be a professional player.”
Finally, he confirmed that he doesn’t think about rotations.
“I never talk about rotations,” Chivu added. “There were several starters on the pitch.
“Except for Diouf, everyone had been key to the start of the season. We knew we needed the right attitude to honor the competition.
“Pio, Thuram, Sucic, Bisseck, De Vrij, and Sucic – for me, rotations don’t exist.
“There are 22 players plus some young call-ups. Everyone gives their best to honor the cause.”
