Instant reactions to Alabama's loss vs. Georgia in SEC Championship

On Saturday afternoon, the Alabama Crimson Tide made their return to the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta with a showdown against the Georgia Bulldogs.

The second time Alabama and Georgia have met this season, the Crimson Tide and Bulldogs took the field in a high stakes SEC title matchup, one where the eventual winner was likely set to receive a first round bye in the upcoming College Football Playoff (CFP).

Ultimately, it was Georgia who came away with the victory in Atlanta, getting their revenge from earlier this season in a 24-21 win over Alabama in a game that was simply a struggle for the Crimson Tide a majority of the contest.

Following are some instant reactions to Alabama’s tough loss against Georgia on Saturday in the SEC Championship Game.

Alabama offensively had one of their worst showings of the season Saturday in Atlanta, racking up only 209 yards of total offense. The Crimson Tide also went a combined 3-of-14 on third downs, as well as 1-of-3 on third down and committed one turnover.

Alabama struggles to run the ball

With both Jam Miller and Kevin Riley out due to injury, Alabama’s running game struggled mightily Saturday against Georgia, rushing for -3 total yards in the game. Leading the Crimson Tide on the ground was Daniel Hill with 11 yards over his four carries, while AK also finished with 10 yards on three attempts.

Alabama offensive line struggles with Georgia pressure

Throughout the game, Alabama’s offensive line struggled with pressure from Georgia’s defensive front, as the Bulldogs simply did not give Ty Simpson much time to throw throughout the contest. Georgia also finished the game with three sacks.

Alabama’s CFP fate now in hands of committee

Falling to 10-3 overall, Alabama’s CFP fate is now fully in the hands of the selection committee. Will the committee penalize Alabama for losing in the SEC Championship Game? We will find out Sunday when the bracket is released.
