A former Michigan State quarterback will reportedly enter the transfer portal, and he’ll arguably be the top player on the market.
Anthony Totri of the PHNX Sun Devils podcast reported on Monday that former Michigan State quarterback and current Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt “intends to enter the transfer portal” when it opens in January. This report comes shortly after Leavitt reportedly was a “no-show” at the Sun Devils’ team banquet on Sunday.
Leavitt started his career at Michigan State as a four-star prospect out of high school. He played for the Spartans during the 2023 season but hit the transfer portal once Jonathan Smith was hired as the next Michigan State head coach.
In 2024, Leavitt led the Sun Devils to a Big 12 championship and appearance in the College Football Playoff. He entered this season as one of the favorites to win the Heisman Trophy but he battle injuries throughout the year, ultimately playing in only seven games.
Leavitt will be one of the most highly-coveted quarterbacks (and overall players) in the transfer portal market. He has two years of eligibility remaining for wherever he ends up moving forward.
