Ousmane Dembélé’s Ballon d’Or: Karim Benzema gives his analysis
In a recent interview, Karim Benzema shared his thoughts on Ousmane Dembélé’s 2025 Ballon d’Or. The Nueve breaks down his analysis.
Since Ousmane Dembélé’s triumph, Karim Benzema now has a French successor for the Ballon d’Or. Crowned in 2022, the former Real Madrid star has watched his ex-teammate from the French national team, Ousmane Dembélé, capture the most prestigious individual award this year. Naturally, Dembélé received Benzema’s congratulations in an interview with L’Equipe.
“Ousmane Dembélé—let’s not forget, we’re talking about a guy who won the Ballon d’Or. And honestly, I don’t think people talk about it enough. What he’s done at PSG is simply unprecedented. I feel like he doesn’t get the recognition he deserves. Because, in reality, he’s the best player in the world. And people aren’t highlighting the season he just had enough. He’s come a long way. He’s had a lot of injuries, his time at Barça… He wasn’t exactly the player you’d expect to one day say, ‘Maybe he’ll win the Ballon d’Or…’ He was far from that. But in the end, he proved everyone wrong. That’s why I really like this player.”, Benzema said.
