Souffian El Karouani
In the Morocco squad unveiled yesterday, Thursday, Souffian El Karouani’s name was missing. The player has responded and is struggling to come to terms with Walid Regragui’s decision.
On Thursday, Morocco head coach Walid Regragui announced the list of Moroccan players selected to compete in AFCON 2025. Unsurprisingly, the squad announcement sparked plenty of debate. The coach was compelled to justify his choices, which clearly did not convince everyone. Souffian El Karouani declared last night, following Utrecht’s defeat to Nottingham Forest (1-2), that he should have been among those called up.
“I think I should have been included. It’s the coach’s decision, I respect it, but I’ll keep working hard. Last time, I wasn’t selected either, with no explanation at all. I had no contact about it. (…) With another coach, maybe it would have been different. What I show on the pitch speaks for itself,” the player told ESPN.
