The Kansas City Chiefs will be without star quarterback Patrick Mahomes for the remainder of the 2025 regular season after he sustained a torn ACL in his left knee during the team’s Week 15 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.
Journeyman backup Gardner Minshew is expected to take Mahomes’ place as Kansas City’s starting quarterback.
Kansas City was officially eliminated from playoff contention after its defeat at the hands of the Chargers, and Mahomes’ injury is salt on an open wound for Chiefs fans who watched the reigning AFC champions’ record fall to 6-8 this afternoon.

With Mahomes sidelined and its season effectively ended, Kansas City will play for nothing but pride during the Chiefs’ final regular-season games.
