Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes tore the ACL in his left knee, the team announced on Dec. 14.
In a social media post, the team said that Mahomes and the team are exploring options regarding surgery.
Mahomes’ left knee flexed awkwardly after being hit late in the Chiefs’ game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.

An MRI has confirmed that Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes sustained a torn ACL in his left knee in today’s game. Patrick and the club are currently exploring surgical options.

Gardner Minshew will be in line to start for Chiefs against the Tennessee Titans on Dec. 21 at Nissan Stadium.
Kansas City lost 16-13 to LA and was eliminated from playoff contention in Week 15, ending a playoff streak that dated back to 2015.
