The Green Bay Packers were dealt a cruel injury hand in Denver on Sunday, and the loss of several key starters, including right tackle Zach Tom, receiver Christian Watson, defensive end Micah Parsons and safety Evan Williams — ended up being too much to overcome as the Packers gave up a 9-point second half lead and lost, 34-26.
The loss hurts. But the injury situation moving forward will likely determine if the Packers can keep the season afloat with the postseason nearing.
Here’s where everything stands on the injury front for the Packers on Monday:
DE Micah Parsons – knee
The mechanism of the injury looked significant. Non-contact, planted foot, knee buckling. Parsons’ immediate reaction, Matt LaFleur’s update — “It doesn’t look good” — and the initial reporting all confirmed the suspicion: Parsons is feared to have a torn ACL, per multiple outlets. The injury would end his season and put the start of next season in real jeopardy. More testing is scheduled for Monday. This post will be updated when the exact diagnosis is reported.
WR Christian Watson – chest/shoulder
While the Parsons news was devastating, Watson appears to have landed somewhere near the best case scenario. While he exited the game after falling on his left shoulder and eventually went to a local Denver hospital for precautionary scans, Watson has avoided a long-term injury and actually has a chance to play Saturday against the Bears, according to reporting from several media outlets, including Jacob Westendorf of Packers on SI. The injury is to his shoulder, not chest.
RT Zach Tom – knee
Coach Matt LaFleur did not think Tom’s knee injury was of a long-term concern. John Kuhn of the Packers Radio Network actually said Tom was riding the stationary bike on the sideline following the injury, suggesting the knee was structurally sound. Sure enough, Tom told Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that they don’t think there is any structural damage.
S Evan Williams – knee
Like Tom, LaFleur did not think Williams had a serious knee injury. While it sounds like Williams suffered a ligament sprain, he exited the locker room under his own power and was optimistic about how the injury felt based on past experience with a similar injury, per Matt Schneidman of The Athletic:
Packers starting safety Evan Williams told me last night that the knee injury he suffered yesterday doesn’t appear to be long term, as Matt LaFleur said. Williams walked out of the locker room on his own and said this injury feels better than the Grade 3 tear he had in college.…

Others to monitor
Tight end Josh Whyle suffered a concussion while trying to make a block in the first half. Linebacker Quay Walker exited briefly after making a tackle but did return. Receiver Jayden Reed hobbled off the field after an incomplete pass in the fourth quarter. The Packers play on Saturday in Week 16, so the first injury report of the week will arrive Tuesday.
