Luke Wafle, a dominant edge rusher from The Hun School of Princeton, New Jersey, has been named the ALL‑USA East Football Team defensive captain, recognizing a senior season that cemented his status as one of the nation’s premier defenders.
Wafle, a 6-foot-5½, 245‑pound force on the edge, delivered a historic campaign. He set a Hun School single‑season record with 23 sacks, adding 99 tackles and 37 tackles for loss across a 12‑game schedule. His disruptive presence anchored Hun’s defense.
His junior year production was nearly as impressive: 53 tackles, 18 TFL, 8 sacks and 8 quarterback hurries in 2024. Across his varsity career, Wafle totaled 232 rushing yards and 120 receiving yards in limited offensive snaps, showcasing rare two‑way athleticism for a defensive standout.
A multi‑sport athlete who also starred in basketball and track and field, Wafle’s blend of power, mobility and technical polish has made him one of the most coveted defenders in the Class of 2026. Rated the No. 10 edge rusher nationally by 247Sports, he fielded more than 30 offers before committing to USC in June.
Scouting evaluations praise his “diesel engine,” advanced play recognition, and ability to defeat double teams — traits that project him as an impact defender at the College Football Playoff level.
Along with the other players selected to the ALL-USA East Football Team, Wafle is a finalist for the national ALL-USA Football Team, which will be announced on Dec. 30.
The East region encompasses athletes from Connecticut, District of Columbia, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and Virginia.
