The New York Jets have made the decision to place former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields on injured reserve, effectively ending his 2025 regular season.
On Tuesday afternoon, Jets HC Aaron Glenn announced that Fields had been placed on IR with a knee injury, telling reporters that their focus now was to “make sure we get him better.”

Struggling in the Jets’ Week 7 matchup against the Carolina Panthers, Fields was benched in favor of QB Tyrod Taylor. He was benched once more following the Week 11 blowout loss to the New England Patriots, his final game-day appearance for New York.
Fields’ disappointing 2025 season with New York had a big impact on Pittsburgh’s 2026 NFL Draft plans, as the Steelers needed him to keep starting games for the Jets, with their potential third compensatory pick set to drop to a fourth- or even a fifth-rounder.
