Oklahoma offensive lineman Jacob Sexton announced he was entering the transfer portal on Tuesday.
Sexton’s exit means the Sooners have now lost six players to the portal since the season ended to Alabama on Friday. He’s the second offensive lineman to leave the team, joining redshirt freshman Isaiah Dent.
Sexton was a four-star recruit out of Edmond when he arrived in Norman as part of the Class of 2022. He quickly established himself as a part of the rotation, playing 10 games during his first year on campus.
During his sophomore season, Sexton played in seven games with four starts, but missed the final four games of the year with injury. In 2024, he started again, but again was hurt in the eighth game and missed the rest of the season. And this year, he began the season as the team’s starting left tackle, ultimately playing in just the one game, losing the rest of the year to injury.
Oklahoma’s offensive line struggled to get its running game going in 2025 as the Sooners ranked 13th in the Southeastern Conference and 115th in FBS in yards rushing per game. Protecting the quarterback didn’t go much better as OU’s offensive line allowed 29 sacks, ranking 100th in FBS.
