No news is mostly good news for 49ers on 2nd Week 17 injury update

The San Francisco 49ers on Thursday continued for the most part trending the right way on the injury front according to their second practice report of the week.

Tight end George Kittle is still absent as he works through an ankle injury he suffered in Week 16. It isn’t a high ankle sprain, and head coach Kyle Shanahan said Kittle is day-to-day with a chance to play Sunday. His absence in practice shouldn’t preclude him from playing Sunday if he’s healthy enough to go.

Wide receiver Ricky Pearsall and cornerback Renardo Green were once again limited participants after missing the club’s Week 16 matchup with the Indianapolis Colts. Two limited practices don’t guarantee both players will be available, but they practiced without any setbacks which is better news than steps backward for either player.

Pearsall is working through knee and ankle issues that cropped up during the 49ers’ Week 15 win against the Tennessee Titans. Green has a neck injury that made him a limited participant throughout Week 16 before being ruled out on the final injury report.

The official injury report for Week 17 will come out after Friday’s practice.
