Is Patriots RB TreVeyon Henderson playing today?

New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson has cleared concussion protocol and is expected to play in Sunday’s game against the New York Jets.

Henderson went into concussion protocol after suffering a head injury in last week’s win over the Baltimore Ravens. After wearing the red non-contact jersey at Wednesday’s practice, he had already shed it by Friday and was a full participant.

That was a great early sign that he was improving quickly enough to have a shot at playing in the Week 17 game against the Jets.

It’s great news for the Patriots given the increasing number of injuries they’ve dealt with late in the season. They are missing left guard Jared Wilson, along with wide receivers Kayshon Boutte and Mack Hollins. DeMario Douglas is also questionable to play.

Henderson has recorded 148 carries for 776 yards and seven touchdowns on the year, along with 35 catches for 221 yards and one touchdown. The latter statistic could prove more important on Sunday, given the team’s depleted receiving corps.
