Another former Aggie is making his way back into the SEC coaching ranks—this time, it’s a Texas A&M Hall of Famer heading to Starkville to help elevate Mississippi State’s defensive front.
Mississippi State announced Sunday night that All-Pro, two-time Super Bowl champion, and Bryan-College Station native Ty Warren has been hired as the Bulldogs’ new defensive line coach. It’s a move with real upside: Warren is an ascending coaching talent whose resume blends elite playing experience with a growing track record of player development.
Warren’s coaching journey began with the Detroit Lions, where he served as an assistant from 2019 to 2020. He then transitioned to spring football, leading defensive lines for the Houston Gamblers (2022) and the Orlando Guardians (2023).
His most impactful work to date came at the college level with Stephen F. Austin, where over two seasons he helped transform the Lumberjacks’ scoring defense from 98th nationally to sixth. He also played a key role in securing back‑to‑back top‑10 FCS recruiting classes.
For Mississippi State, this hire could prove to be a steal. Warren will now work with the most talented defensive line group of his young coaching career, and his reputation for toughness, technique, and relationship‑driven development should resonate immediately in Starkville.
Warren shared his excitement in the program’s announcement:
