The Knicks may’ve found something in Mohamed Diawara. 

Diawara was selected with the 51st pick in this year’s draft, and he continues stacking impressive performances early in his rookie campaign. 

“The more he’s on the floor, the more he’s comfortable,” Mike Brown said. 

Monday night was the latest display of Diawara dominance. 

Even with Miles McBride returning from an ankle injury, Brown decided to give the youngster his second consecutive start against the New Orleans Pelicans. 

Diawara responded with easily his best showing to this point. 

The 20-year-old scored the first five points of the game, backing down a defender before dropping in a lay-in and then drilling a three to give New York the early advantage. 

He continued his hot start and was responsible for half of New York’s scoring in the first, putting up 13 points over his first 13 minutes of action. 

“Mo kept us in that game knocking down some big shots,” Brown said. 

Diawara added just two more buckets the rest of the night, but he still finished with a career-high 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field.

That efficient line includes a perfect 4-for-4 from behind the arc, an extremely encouraging sign considering he was coming into the night with just six makes in 18 attempts from three on the season. 

Yet another sign of growth from the young small forward. 

“It was awesome to see from him tonight,” OG Anunoby said. “He’s just an amazing player and he’s only going to keep getting better and better, so it was really cool to see.”

Getting Diawara comfortable and in rhythm while they are shorthanded would be a huge boost moving forward.
