Tennessee wide receiver from Knoxville announces transfer

The NCAA transfer portal will open Friday. The transfer portal will remain open through Jan. 16.

Ahead of the transfer portal window, Tennessee redshirt junior wide receiver Tommy Winton III announced he will transfer from the Vols with one year of eligibility remaining.

“I will be entering my name in the transfer portal with one year of eligibility remaining,” Winton III announced on social media.

The 5-foot-10, 200-pound wide receiver played for the Vols after transferring from East Tennessee State. He totaled three receptions for 26 yards from 2024-25 at Tennessee.

Winton III, a 2022 graduate from Catholic High School in Knoxville, Tennessee, played at ETSU from 2022-23. He appeared in 20 games at wide receiver, defensive back and kick returner for the Buccaneers.

Winton III totaled 23 receptions for 349 receiving yards. He also returned four kickoffs for 99 yards, while recording four tackles.
