Tennessee football starting offensive tackle announces transfer

The NCAA transfer portal will open Friday and will remain open through Jan. 16.

Ahead of the transfer portal window, Tennessee junior left tackle Lance Heard announced on social media he will transfer from the Vols.

“After a lot of thought and prayer, I’ve decided to enter the transfer portal with eligibility remaining, to explore new opportunities and continue developing as a player and as a person,” Heard announced.

The 6-foot-6, 330-pound offensive lineman appeared in 13 games for Tennessee in 2025 and started at left tackle.

He started in all 10 games he appeared in during his first season with Vols in 2024. Heard transferred to Tennessee from LSU. He played in 12 games as a freshman in 2023 for the Tigers.
