Nika Prevc continued her dominance in women’s ski jumping with an undisputed normal hill success in front of a Slovenian home crowd on Saturday.

Prevc soared a competition best 96 metres and added 89.5m in the second round in Ljubno for a third World Cup victory in a row and eighth of the season.

Austrian Lisa Eder was a distant second 24.2 points back and German Selina Freitag trailed by 33.6 points, rising from fourth thanks to the biggest second round jump of 92m.

Men’s ski jumpers were set to compete in a super team event at the Polish venue of Zakopane later on Saturday.

Nordic combined skiers were in Otepää, Estonia, where Einar Luraas Oftebro of Norway claimed a first career victory just ahead of German Johannes Rydzek in snowy conditions in the men’s normal hill/10km event.

In the women’s event with 6km skiing, Norway’s Ida Marie Hagen claimed a fifth success in six season competitions and a 22nd overall, with Japan’s Yuna Kasai a distant second more than a minute back.

Like on Friday, the athletes were unable to ski jump due to the adverse conditions, and results from the provisional competition jumps on Thursday were used to determine the start order for the concluding cross country pursuits.

The Otepää events are completed with compact competitions on Sunday.
