It’s a complicated weekend for the Kmet family.

Cole Kmet and the Chicago Bears are hosting the Green Bay Packers in their first playoff appearance since 2020, yet the allegiance of Cole’s sister, Frankie Kmet, is unclear. That’s because Frankie is dating Packers defensive end Lukas Van Ness, who Kmet will likely have to block at times Saturday.

While speaking with reporters this week, Kmet made light of the situation and joked that he doesn’t speak with his sister during Packers week, so he has no clue who she’s rooting for.

“I usually find that out after the game,” Kmet said of his sister’s allegiance. “Usually she’s happy to see both of us healthy and all that good sister stuff, but I hope deep down she’s rooting for us.”

Saturday’s game presents a tide-shifting opportunity for the Bears. Chicago has struggled mightily against the Packers since the 1990s, but now Ben Johnson and Co. can send Green Bay packing and usher in a new hierarchy in the NFC North. As a native of Illinois, that has to be appealing to Frankie, even if her partner is on the losing end.
