Two Tennessee men’s track and field athletes set world records in the finals of the men’s 60-meter at the Clemson Invitational in Clemson, South Carolina.
Tennessee sprinters Davonte Howell and Traunard Folson simultaneously finished in 6.49 seconds. Both performances established a new world and NCAA marks for the 2025-26 season indoor campaign, while tying for third in Tennessee program history and 12th in collegiate history.
Howell was credited with the victory Saturday as he crossed the finish line in 6.485 seconds. Folson recorded a time of 6.486 seconds. Howell’s time also set a Cayman Islands national record.
Tennessee senior T’Mars McCallum finished in third place for the 60-meter. He tied his personal best mark with a time of 6.59 seconds, which is third nationally this season and seventh in program history.
Tennessee athletes set school records in the 300-meter. Saad Hinti won a heat race with a time 32.46 seconds and Lady Vols‘ sprinter Javonya Valcourt finished the women’s 300-meter dash in 36.53 seconds.
Nigel Ancrum also recorded a personal best time of 6.64 seconds in the men’s 60-meter.
Three other Tennessee men recorded personal best marks in the 300-meter: Andre Jackson II (32.64 seconds), Harry Barton (33.23 seconds) and Calvin Wetzel (33..30 seconds).
