Former Texas A&M and TCU quarterback Kenny “The Trill” Hill once looked like the next great Aggie signal caller after taking over as the starter after Heisman-winning quarterback Johnny Manziel departed following the 2013 season, making his first introduction against a ranked South Carolina team on the road.
Breaking Manziel’s passing record after completing 44 passes for 511 yards and four touchdowns, Hill became an instant star in College Station, as he would throw 17 touchdowns and just one interception while leading the Aggies to five consecutive wins. However, Texas A&M’s success turned to failure, and a three-game losing streak followed, including a 59-0 shutout loss on the road against Alabama, while Hill struggled in the pocket.
Benched in favor of the true freshman five-star quarterback Kyle Allen, Hill’s once bright season took a turn for the worse after violating team rules and athletic program policies, resulting in his decision to transfer to TCU. After sitting out under the previous transfer rules, Hill earned the starting quarterback job and thrived in 2023 with the Horned Frogs, throwing for 3,152 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions.
After going undrafted following the 2017 season, Hill turned to coaching, staying at TCU as a student assistant, and eventually worked his way up to quarterbacks coach during the 2021 season. Hill’s coaching career took a significant turn after becoming Incarnate Word’s associate head coach & running backs coach, while serving as the program’s co-offensive coordinator & running backs coach during the 2025 season.
It was reported on Monday that Kenny Hill is on the move once again, as he has reportedly accepted a position as Arkansas State’s running backs coach under veteran head coach Butch Jones ahead of the 2026 season. This is just another step for Hill, who is on the right track to becoming a Power 4 offensive coordinator in due time.
