Texas A&M’s 2026 wide receiver rotation will now feature Alabama transfer Isaiah Horton, who committed to the Aggies on Sunday after entering the transfer portal late last week. Needing a true X wide receiver to fill out what is already an established rotation, Horton’s 6’4″ frame will finally allow starting quarterback Marcel Reed to take more 50/50 shots along the boundary, while providing another red zone target.
Leading Alabama with eight touchdowns last season, Horton is already familiar with Marcel Reed’s skill set, having grown up just hours away from each other in Tennessee, and played on the same 7v7 team, while their last meeting on the field was during Horton’s second season with the Miami Hurricanes in a game the Aggies lost on the road.
This past season, Texas A&M’s wide receiver corps was led by the elite duo of KC Concepcion and Mario Craver, who combined for 1,836 yards and 13 touchdowns through the air, but lacked the size to outmuscle defenders on underthrown balls, while incoming sophomore wideout Ashton Bethel-Roman primarily played the X, standing at just 6’0″.
With Horton’s addition, this takes pressure off Mario Craver, whose elite speed and separation, especially in the middle of the field, allow more open space to thrive, while No. 1 corners will more than likely be guarding Horton most of the time.
So, why did Horton choose Texas A&M instead of staying with Alabama? During a brief interview with College Football Edits founder Phillip DesRosier, the Tennessee native had nothing but positive things to say about the Crimson Tide, feeling that heading to College Station was the right decision at the right time.
“I made this decision because this is where I felt God was leading me. There’s nothing against Alabama, it was nothing but love during the time I was there and I will forever be thankful for the opportunity they gave me.”
During his four seasons at Miami and Alabama, Horton reeled in 112 receptions for 1,295 yards and 14 touchdowns.
