SAN ANTONIO – The Milwaukee Bucks will yet again try to start to climb out of the 11th position in the Eastern Conference, as they now sit two games behind the Chicago Bulls in the loss column for the last play-in spot at 17-23 overall.
They face a tough task tonight in San Antonio, as the Spurs are currently the No. 3 team in the Western Conference with a 27-13 record. The Spurs are also 13-5 at the Frost Bank Center.
Is Giannis playing?
He will play, though he is listed as probable with a left ankle sprain suffered on Jan. 13 vs. Minnesota. Antetokounmpo went through shootaround on Jan. 15 at Frost Bank Center and didn’t look to be favoring the ankle in any way.
Is Victor Wembanyama playing?
Yes. The Spurs’ nascent superstar has dealt with injuries throughout the season and will be playing in just his 27th game, but he is averaging 24 points, 11 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game.
Giannis vs. Wemby IV
This will be the fourth meeting between the two giants of the game, as the 7-foot, 5-inch Wembanyama modeled his game in some ways after the 7-foot Antetokounmpo when he was growing up in France.
Their first meeting, on Jan. 4, 2024, was an epic showdown in Texas as Antetokounmpo scored 44 points, had 14 rebounds and handed out seven assists while Wembanyama had 27 points, nine rebounds and five blocked shots in a Bucks win.
Last season, the teams split their two games. The Spurs got their first victory on Jan. 31, 2025 thanks to a 30-point, 14-rebound, 6-block performance. Antetokounmpo had 35 points, 14 rebounds and six assists.
