The transfer portal window is officially closed as of Friday, so while the exodus into the portal will now come to a close, those who are still looking for a home will continue to land places, including at Ohio State. That came to fruition on Friday when former LSU wide receiver Kyle Parker committed to Ohio State, according to recruiting guru Hayes Fawcett.
The news likely won’t be something that moves the needle too much with the OSU fanbase, but it’s important to note that Parker caught 31 receptions for 330 yards and four touchdowns on a roster and in a league that had a slew of talent. He operated mainly out of the slot, so it’ll be interesting to see what moves the coaching staff makes with Brandon Inniss, who was Ohio State’s slot receiver last year.
If OSU moves Inniss to the outside, Parker could be a candidate to start at the slot position, but we have to remember that 5-star commit Chris Henry Jr. will also be a part of the competition to grab that third spot. If he does, it’s likely that Inniss stays in the slot and Parker becomes a very good depth piece for a very talented position group.
Parker is a former 4-star prospect out of the same Lovejoy High School in Lucas, Texas, that current OSU linebacker Payton Pierce hails from. He was ranked as the No. 47 receiver in the 2023 class and is the No. 68 pass-catcher available in the transfer portal, both according to 247Sports.

Ohio State is most likely not quite done bringing guys in from the transfer portal, and while we don’t expect it to be a flood of players, when more news becomes available, we’ll have it here at Buckeyes Wire.
