Injury news

There are no injury news to report for St. John’s heading into Tuesday’s game.

What to watch for in the Storm

Boarding the Ship – Although St. John’s commanded the boards in their four-game winning streak, they will be tested against Seton Hall’s physicality in the paint. The Pirates rank first in the conference in offensive rebound percentage (38.7%) and second in opposing offensive rebound percentage (28.9%). Center tandem Stephon Payne III and Najai Hines are both top-five in the Big East in total offensive rebounds.

Hopped Up – No player is benefiting more from the new three-forward lineups than Bryce Hopkins. In the Red Storm’s four-game winning streak, Hopkins is averaging 15.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists, shooting 51.2% from the field, 2-of-5 from three, and 83.3% from the free throw line. His outing against Villanova was the first time he eclipsed the 20-point mark in a game since he racked up a season-best 26 points against Baylor on November 25.

Survive the Slog – Seton Hall’s best chance of pulling off the road upset is to drag St. John’s into a slow-tempo rock fight. The Pirates are shooting an abysmal 38.9% overall and 24.5% from three in Big East play, both of which are the worst in the conference, but rank second with a 46.6% effective field goal percentage allowed and force turnovers at the third-best rate in the league.
