PORT HENRY — Lexi Cheney led a balanced attack with 10 points, and Moriah edged out a 37-36 win over Saranac on Friday night in a low-scoring Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls’ basketball contest.
Emma Harrington added nine points for the Vikings, and Lexi Mascarenas chipped in with eight.
Maddison Gagnier tallied a game-high 13 points for Saranac, while Elizabeth Recore and Hannah Forgette each added nine. The Spartans finished with 11 field goals in the game and seven of those were 3-pointers.
Moriah, meanwhile, had five 3-pointers among its 13 field goals.
“It was a very competitive game from start to finish,” Moriah coach Gary Olcott said. “I was very happy to see the girls dig in at the end and get the win. Saranac is always a tough team, and they are well coached.”
