Paddy Pimblett has warned Justin Gaethje that their UFC 324 clash will change him, promising to leave his opponent “physically” different by the end of the fight.
Paddy Pimblett spoke confidently during the UFC 324 pre-fight press conference in Las Vegas, acknowledging Justin Gaethje’s experience but insisting he is ready for the challenge.
Justin Gaethje had told reporters earlier in the week that he planned to “do violent things” in the octagon, but Pimblett dismissed the talk.
Paddy Pimblett says Justin Gaethje will not be the same after UFC 324
Speaking to reporters at the UFC 324 press conference, Paddy Pimblett said emotion never drives his performances.
He explained that fights come down to skill and control, and believes Gaethje will not recover easily from what he plans to deliver.
“He won’t be physically the same after this fight. I will,” Pimblett said. “I will be exactly the same. I’m going to put a beatdown on him like he’s never received. I can promise you that.”
The Liverpool native described the matchup as just another day at work, saying he never turns down a fight and always accepts whoever is offered. He said his approach stays the same regardless of opponent.
“I don’t turn down no fight. I step up, and I fight the person whose name is on the contract,” he said. “I thought I was going to fight Justin in October in Abu Dhabi, but I think he turned it down. Now, there’s a belt on the line. He’s taken the fight.”
Paddy Pimblett laughs off Justin Gaethje’s pre-fight warning
Justin Gaethje also said he wanted to frighten the Liverpool native, but Paddy Pimblett found the comment amusing and said such talk is part of the fight game.
“We’re not having a pillow fight. We’re having a fight. I know I’m going to hurt him. I know I am. If he wants to try and hurt me, that’s what we’re here for. That’s the name of the game.”
It’s clear that Pimblett hasn’t let Gaethje’s comments and mind games get to him, and is focused on delivering a clinical performance in the Octagon.
Paddy Pimblett enters UFC 324 unbeaten in the UFC at 7-0 and 23-3 overall. The lightweight fight against Justin Gaethje will headline the event in Las Vegas with the interim championship at stake.
