The San Francisco 49ers have started their preparations for the offseason since falling to the Seattle Seahawks in the divisional-round matchup last week at Lumen Field.
However, with four teams still alive, the 2025 season is still ongoing, and with that, the year-end awards are still up for debate.
While the winners of the annual awards will be announced at the 2026 NFL Honors, the finalists for the awards were revealed on Thursday, and two of them call Levi’s Stadium home.
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan is a finalist for Coach of the Year and running back Christian McCaffrey is a finalist for Offensive Player of the Year and Comeback Player of the Year.
Shanahan, 46, led the 49ers to a 12-5 record, a playoff berth and wild-card win over the defending Super Bowl champions despite his team missing several key players for long stretches this year. While he was named Sports News’ Coach of the Year in 2019, he’s never received the honor from the AP.
McCaffrey, 29, played in just four games in 2024, so there weren’t lofty expectations for him this year. However, he went on to play in 17 games while totaling 2,124 yards from scrimmage and 17 touchdowns. If he were to win Offensive Player of the Year, this would be his second time doing so since joining the 49ers, as he also received the honor in 2023.
