PFF dubs Bears' rookie class the best of 2025 season

The Chicago Bears had an impressive 2025 season, where they went from worst-to-first at 11-6, won the NFC North for the first time since 2018 and won their first playoff game in 15 years. And Chicago’s rookie draft class played a key role in the team’s success.

The Bears saw significant contributions from most of their rookie class, including first-round tight end Colston Loveland, second-round wide receiver Luther Burden III, second-round tackle Ozzy Trapilo, seventh-round running back Kyle Monangai and undrafted rookie wideout Jahdae Walker.

It was the first rookie draft class under head coach Ben Johnson, and you could certainly see his influence with the selections of Loveland and Burden, who were big-time playmakers in the pass game, as well as in the trenches with Trapilo and Monangai as part of a 1-2 punch at running back with veteran D’Andre Swift.

So it’s no surprise that Pro Football Focus dubbed this Bears’ rookie class the most valuable rookie class of the 2025 season, per PFF WAR.

As you can imagine, Loveland led the Bears’ rookie class across the board. He played the most snaps )818), led the team in WAR (0.514), led the team in PFF grade (85.3) and also ranked first among all rookie tight ends (85.3). But Burden and Trapilo also had solid seasons for Chicago in what was the team’s most impactful rookie class in their first season.

Here’s a complete look at the Bears rookies’ PFF grades for the 2025 season:

  • TE Colston Loveland: 85.3
  • WR Luther Burden III: 76.7
  • LT Ozzy Trapilo: 73.5
