Drake Maye named PFWA's Most Improved Player of the Year

New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye was named the Pro Football Writers of America’s Most Improved Player of the Year.

The quarterback had a strong second year, throwing for 4,394 yards, 31 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. He has also rushed for 450 yards and four touchdowns. The massive leap that Maye has experienced in Year 2 is one of the biggest reasons for the Patriots’ turnaround season.

Now, he will have a chance to take the Patriots to the Super Bowl with a win in Sunday’s AFC Championship Game against the Denver Broncos. Regardless of what happens, it has been a significant turnaround from last year, when the team finished the season with a 4-13 record.

Maye has established himself as a legitimate franchise quarterback this season.

That’s one of the biggest takeaways for a Patriots team that has struggled to find the successor to Tom Brady. Maye has elevated his level of play, and the Patriots have become one of the NFL’s top teams as a result.
