World number one Scottie Scheffler won his 20th PGA Tour event at The American Express on Sunday.
The 29-year-old was one shot behind 54-hole leader Si Woo Kim heading into the final round and finished with a four-shot advantage over second place.
It was another dominant display from the best golfer on the planet, which suggested that he will be as successful in 2026 as he was in 2024 and 2025.
After Scheffler’s latest victory, another PGA Tour winner has explained what it feels like to compete against him every week.
Michael Kim is not worried about Scottie Scheffler’s dominance
Michael Kim is a PGA and DP World Tour champion, ranked 42nd in the world, but he will admit that Scheffler is on another level.
Kim recently claimed that Scheffler is one of only a handful of players who expect to win tournaments, whereas everyone else just wants to contend.
“Some questions about how I feel competing against him,” he wrote. “I don’t go into a tournament and think it’s win or nothing. In fact, I only think 3 or 4 players TRULY think this way.
“Most of us want to play well and get into contention and see where the chips fall. I don’t lose any ‘hope.’”
Kim is fully focused on improving his game and does not worry about how much better Scheffler is because they are unlikely to have a one-on-one battle.
“I’m trying to improve to get closer to him. Maybe if I’m in contention and playing with him, it might become that, but right now, I’m worried about my game, not his.”
Michael Kim compares Scottie Scheffler to Tiger Woods
Scottie Scheffler is the best golfer in the world by such a wide margin that he can only be compared to legends of the game.
He has even drawn comparisons to Tiger Woods, by far the greatest player of the 21st century.
Kim still believes that Woods was better in his absolute prime, but Scheffler’s current dominance can certainly compete.
“Maybe not the peak Tiger years like 2000 or 2006. But Scottie is as good as Tiger every other year,” Kim claimed.
“And Scottie isn’t going to change swings drastically throughout his career either. Just gotta avoid cooking from time to time.”
