Fighting through snow and frigid temperatures, the Oklahoma City Thunder were handed their latest reminder of why their fanbase is known as one of the best across the league.
After a week’s anticipation, OKC was hit with quite the snowstorm over the weekend. A foot of snow covered the ground. It made travel nearly impossible during those couple of days. Mother Nature couldn’t have picked a worse time to change things up, as the Thunder returned from a lengthy four-game road trip.
Even though the Thunder dropped a pair of avoidable losses to the Indiana Pacers and Toronto Raptors, you can’t blame a lack of atmosphere for it. Considering the weather and road conditions, the arena was about as filled as you could’ve hoped for.
Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault noted the unwavering support. While other games were postponed due to the inclement weather, the show went on in OKC. The Raptors were able to fly into town by the thinnest margin this past Saturday afternoon.
“I was impressed with the amount of people that came out to the game,” Daigneault said. “Hopefully, everybody was safe with driving conditions. We’re always grateful for our fans.”
Let’s see if the Thunder can finally repay the support. You don’t want to go 0-for-3 in a homestand most viewed as winnable before OKC was buried with injuries throughout half of their roster. They must salvage things with a much-needed win over the New Orleans Pelicans.
Or risk experiencing their first three-game losing streak in two seasons.
