Steelers HC Mike McCarthy confirms excitement about QB Will Howard

On Tuesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers introduced new head coach Mike McCarthy and he held his introductory press conference. What everyone wanted to know what what McCarthy thinks of the Steelers’ quarterback situation and some preliminary evaluation of the guys on the roster.

McCarthy didn’t hesitate to talk up the guys on the roster and seemed especially excited about working with second-year quarterback Will Howard.

“I’m really excited about Will Howard, I think he’s someone that I thought he really came on there at Ohio State,” McCarthy said. “I’m anxious to work with him. So, I mean, it’d be great to have Aaron [Rodgers] back, but Will and Mason [Rudolph], I’m really excited to get started with those guys.”

McCarthy also said he would love to have Aaron Rodgers back for 2026 but that issue remains to be seen. For now, we will keep a close eye on free agency and the draft to see what direction McCarthy goes with the most important position on the field.
