Maxx Crosby shares true thoughts on Will Campbell as Patriots' LT

Las Vegas Raiders star defensive end Maxx Crosby had high praise for New England Patriots rookie offensive tackle Will Campbell. Crosby spoke on his podcast earlier this week and talked about Campbell’s future in the NFL after an up-and-down postseason run.

“He’s gonna be a great player in this league, I have no doubt about that,” Crosby said on The Rush Podcast. “He’s got the right mindset, he’s tough as hell, he’s got great athleticism. And you’ve just got to go through it. As a rookie, you’re gonna have your ups and downs no matter where you’re drafted. …I think he’s got a bright future. He’s been a starting left tackle, and that team has made it to the Super Bowl with him starting there.”

The path hasn’t been easy for Campbell.

In the wild card round, he faced a former NFL Defensive Player of the Year in Los Angeles Chargers edge rusher Khalil Mack, and then he had to deal with Houston Texans First-Team All-Pro defensive end Will Anderson. He allowed three sacks across those first two games.

However, he did bounce back in a tough matchup against the Denver Broncos and edge rusher Nik Bonitto in the AFC Championship Game by allowing zero sacks on his side.

It’s essential to remember that Campbell is learning on the fly, and he’s also recovering from an MCL injury. That has obviously led to some growing pains in the postseason. However, the big picture view is that those challenges have been major teaching moments for a first-year player acclimating to the NFL level.
