New York Giants’ head coach John Harbaugh found his offensive coordinator, and the hire makes sense when one looks at the connections.
Former Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy is headed to the Giants to run the offense, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Tuesday morning.

Nagy spent time under Andy Reid in Kansas City, where Harbaugh has ties that go back years.
The 47-year-old grew up in New Jersey and is now coming back to work with Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart. It’s potentially a similar setup to what he had with Patrick Mahomes when he was calling plays for the Chiefs.
John Harbaugh worked under Andy Reid in Philadelphia, and Harbaugh mentioned in his opening press conference that he sought advice from Reid, who told him, “Change can be good,” after his firing in Baltimore.

After Nagy looked into head coaching openings this offseason, he didn’t return to Kansas City. Reports had him as a finalist for the Titans job before they hired Robert Saleh.
Since he was not calling plays under Reid anymore, the Chiefs gave him the green light to explore other options early.

Matt Nagy was the Chicago Bears head coach before working under Andy Reid. His time in Chicago ran from 2018 to 2021. He finished 34-31 as the Bears head coach and won the NFC North his first year.
The team got back to the postseason in 2020, giving him two playoff trips in four years. Neither one lasted long though. Chicago couldn’t get a playoff win in either appearance, and that’s mostly what stuck with people after he left.
For Giants fans, this hire feels like a calculated bet on experience, connections, and a system that has worked before.
