The New York Knicks might want to trade Guerschon Yabusele.

But there are multiple layers complicating that before Thursday’s deadline that have to do with Yabusele’s contract.

For one, Yabusele is on a bigger deal than some teams might want to take on for a guy the Knicks haven’t found a way to use since signing him in free agency in the offseason.

But looming even more fascinatingly is a report out of Israel that Hapoel Tel Aviv is trying to get Yabusele to sign a contract with them.

He would first have to be bought out and waived to go there, which might not happen anyway, but it’s just another layer to this whole thing.

Yabusele did speak on the rumor recently, with the quote below via Stefan Bondy of the New York Post:

“I ain’t closing no door on nothing. I don’t know what’s going to happen. I don’t know what tomorrow’s going to be. So right now I can tell you nothing has been discussed or signed or anything like that. I’m a Knicks player at the end of the day. There’s nothing with that. But there’s been teams calling, so yeah, I feel like the report was just them saying they want me and then everybody thought that I signed something already. No, nothing like that. But there’s some teams out there that we heard are getting ready to sign me if I go back that way. We’ll see what happens.”

Knicks fans were quite excited about the Yabusele signing in the summer.

He had come back to the NBA in 2024-25 to the 76ers and looked like a really useful player.

It just hasn’t translated for the Knicks, though, and now Yabusele’s entire NBA future appears in at least a bit of doubt.
