Spurs' Dylan Harper to team up with father, brother in All-Star event

San Antonio Spurs rookie Dylan Harper will participate in the Shooting Stars event at NBA All-Star Weekend in Inglewood, California, the league announced on Saturday.

Harper will team up with his father, former 15-year veteran and five-time champion Ron Harper, and his older brother, Boston Celtics guard Ron Harper Jr. Each team features two current players and one former legend for the event at the Intuit Dome.

The Harpers will compete against Team All-Star (Scottie Barnes, Chet Holmgren and Rip Hamilton), Team Cameron (Jalen Johnson, Kon Knueppel and Corey Maggette) and Team Knicks (Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns and Allan Houston).

Harper is averaging 10.7 points, 3.5 assists and 3.3 rebounds while shooting 45.4% from the field in 40 appearances with the Spurs. He ranks sixth among all rookies in assists and is one of 10 first-year players with at least five 20-point performances.

The fourth overall pick is among 10 rookies and three Spurs players selected to the Rising Stars Game, joining Stephon Castle (sophomore) and David Jones Garcia (G League). It marks the fifth time in franchise history that the Spurs had multiple selections in the same season.

The Shooting Stars competition is a part of the Saturday night festivities at All-Star Weekend, along with the 3-Point Contest and Slam Dunk Contest. Spurs rookie Carter Bryant was announced on Saturday as one of four participants in the Slam Dunk Contest.
