New England Patriots offensive tackle Will Campbell’s strong start to Super Bowl LX was short lived.
Campbell, 22, provided great protection to Patriots quarterback Drake Maye in the first quarter of the game. The LSU product tapered off considerably in the third quarter. What was once fundamental pass-blocking turned into error-filled protection.
Campbell was not able to protect the left side of the pocket. Seahawks linebacker Derick Hall increasingly got the better of him when matched up with one another. Campbell also saw Seahawks linebacker DeMarcus Lawrence blow by him for a tackle on Maye, leading to an errant throw with 0:54 to play in the third quarter.
According to NFL Network’s Jack Andrade, Next Gen Stats attributed 14 pressures conceded to Campbell against the Seahawks — the most allowed by any player in a regular season or playoff game in 2025.
The criticisms that Campbell faced leading up to the big game were persistent on Sunday. New England’s offense was not able to gain a rhythm due in part to the rookie offensive lineman’s play. The Patriots lost Super Bowl LX to the Seahawks 29-13.
