The AZ Compass Prep National [Chandler, AZ] Dragons move back up to No. 1 this week for the first time since giving up the top spot to SPIRE Academy National [Geneva, OH] back on January 20.

The Dragons only loss this season is to that same SPIRE Academy squad – a lopsided 72-50 defeat back on January 2. But SPIRE’s 66-52 loss to the Montverde [FL] Academy Eagles last week is their second loss of the season, setting up a loop in which Montverde has a loss to the current No. 2 Link Academy [Branson, MO] Lions which, in turn, has a loss to AZ Compass Prep National.

The Dragons are the only one-loss team in that loop, and SPIRE’s other loss is to CIA-Bella Vista, a three-loss squad that has also been beaten by AZ Compass Prep. For now, those results are enough for us to move the Dragons back up to the top spot in our weekly rankings while SPIRE slides to No. 6.

The only other major near the top involves the previous No. 3 Brewster Academy National [Wolfeboro, NH] Bobcats who drop to No. 13 after losing to the previous No. 11 Wasatch Academy [Mt. Pleasant, UT] Tigers. The win lifts Wasatch into the Top 10 after a long, steady climb.

The rest of the Top 25 is pretty stable with only two new teams joining the ranks. The Rainier Beach [Seattle, WA] Vikings and the Gainesville [GA] Red Elephants join the party this week, replacing the East Lansing [MI] Trojans and the Dream City Christian National [Glendale, AZ] Eagles.
