Staff predictions for Texas A&M baseball's 2026 season

Redemption is what’s on the menu for the 2026 Texas A&M baseball team. With a strong mix of veteran players and young talent, the Aggies have plenty to prove and are being counted out by most. That’s exactly where they want to be. After falling outside the top 25 in nearly every preseason poll and with fan confidence in Coach Michael Earley at an all‑time low, expectations have reset. A&M now has an opportunity to make real noise. The question is whether they’re ready to compete.

There will be no excuses this season, and anything short of a postseason berth would be a major disappointment — and likely cost Earley his job. He made the changes this offseason that he believes give the program its best chance, starting with taking over hitting‑coach duties himself and bringing in one of the best assistant coaches in the country, former Aggie standout Cliff Pennington.

If Earley can fix the team’s approach at the plate, he has several elite bats on the roster capable of carrying the offense. And if Pennington delivers as advertised, the defensive miscues should see a dramatic drop, even with all the turnover in the infield. Despite having multiple top‑100 MLB Draft prospects, the Aggies were picked to finish 13th in the stacked SEC.

But as we know all too well, preseason rankings don’t mean much. A perfect example came on the opening weekend of softball, where several SEC teams were upset, causing a major shake‑up in the top‑25 rankings.

Depending on who you talk to, projections for the Aggies range from missing the postseason entirely to becoming one of the surprise College World Series teams of 2026.

It’s my personal belief that Texas A&M will make it back to the NCAA Tournament, ultimately being eliminated in the Super Regional Round.

The Aggies will squeak into the NCAA Tournament and then make a surprise run to the College World Series, where they will be eliminated in the second round in Omaha.

If Texas A&M can find a solidified pitching rotation and stay healthy throughout the year, the Maroon and White could make it back to the postseason. The SEC schedule is grueling, but if Texas A&M steals some games and finish at or a little above .500 with a solid RPI, the Aggies have a shot.

Texas A&M opens the 2026 campaign with a three‑game home series against Tennessee Tech beginning February 13 at Blue Bell Park in Bryan–College Station.
