The Olympic Village traditionally makes free condoms available to the athletes staying there.
At the 2026 Olympics in Milan-Cortina, the condoms have run out already. And not for the reason you might think.
The reported promise was that 300,000 free contraceptives would be made available to the athletes. According to Daily Mail, just 10,000 showed up.
According to Daily Mail, one athlete said, “The supplies sold out in just three days. They promised us more will arrive, but who knows when.”

That 300,000 number expected in Italy was the number provided at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
This cycle’s Olympic Village has 1,400 beds. There are less athletes that compete in the Winter Games than in the Summer edition, but it’s still a lot of athletes in close quarters for a few weeks.
Almost all the athletes stay in the village, although the Canadian men’s hockey team has apparently left to stay in a hotel instead.
The Closing Ceremonies of this Olympiad take place on Sunday, Feb. 22, so there’s still more than a week to go until then.

The final day of these Olympics includes the gold medal matches for women’s curling and men’s ice hockey, as well as the 4-man bobsled competition and women’s 50-kilometer cross-country skiing.
Still plenty of Olympic Games left to go for those staying in the Olympic Village.
