Randy Orton has never been shy about defending professional wrestling.
The WWE veteran recently took aim at NFL legend Tom Brady after comments made on a podcast appearance.
Brady had described pro wrestling as “cute,” a remark that clearly did not go unnoticed inside the wrestling world.
Orton, one of WWE’s most decorated superstars, responded in his typical fashion.
Randy Orton says Tom Brady is ‘at the top of the list’ for an RKO
Speaking about Brady’s appearance on Logan Paul’s podcast, Orton made it clear he had heard what was said.
“Well, I did see a recent podcast Logan Paul put on,” Orton stated. “He had Tom Brady on, and he had a few things to say about pro wrestling. I think he called it ‘cute.’”
Orton then revealed exactly how he would like to settle things.
“I’ve never met him, but I’d love to meet Tom and hit him with an RKO. I’d say he would be at the top of the list.”
The RKO, Orton’s signature finishing move, is one of the most recognisable in WWE history.
While his comments were clearly tongue-in-cheek, they underlined how seriously many wrestlers take their craft.
Randy Orton set to make history at Elimination Chamber
Orton’s response to Brady comes at a significant moment in his own career.
This weekend, he will compete in his 10th Elimination Chamber match, more than any other superstar in WWE history has.
“10 Elimination Chambers is a lot of Elimination Chambers,” Orton explained. “My body has been beaten up all over that ring in that chamber. It is unforgiving.
“But I take a lot of experience with me into that chamber, and I’m going to use it this Saturday. I’m going to win the thing and go to WrestleMania.”
The Elimination Chamber is one of WWE’s most brutal structures, known for its physical toll.
Orton’s experience inside the unique setting could prove crucial as he chases another WrestleMania opportunity.
