A quartet of Team USA hockey stars made it to the stage for “Saturday Night Live” this weekend.

Both of the players to score the gold medal-winning goals in overtime, Megan Keller and Jack Hughes were there, as were Team USA all-time leading women’s scorer Hilary Knight and Hughes’ brother, Quinn, who led the men in points.

The quartet flanked the host, “Heated Rivalry” star Connor Storrie, for his obviously hockey-heavy monologue. First came the Hughes brothers, with Jack still sporting two very missing front teeth, then the women emerged to a noticeably louder, longer applause.

A joke representative of the overall material:

Quinn: What team do you play one?

Storrie: The Boston Raiders

Jack: Boston Raiders? What league is that? The NHL?

Storrie: The HBO.

It has been less than a week since the end of the Olympics, in which the men’s team beat Canada for their first gold medal since the Miracle on Ice in 1980 and the women’s team also beat Canada for their second gold medal in three olympiads. It is the first double hockey gold in U.S. history.

Such periods are usually spent basking in patriotic glory — which has definitely still happened — though the two teams have also found themselves facing some tension after the men laughed at a joke from President Donald Trump about being impeached if he didn’t invite the women to the White House. 

Both of the Hughes brothers expressed their respect for the women’s team in a subsequent interview Monday, while Knight called the joke “distasteful” but said she just wanted to move on.

Obviously, none of this came up in the SNL appearance.

All four players had to fit the show into a busy schedule, as both the NHL and PWHL quickly resumed play this week. Both Keller and Jack Hughes actually played games earlier Saturday — Keller in Ottawa and Hughes in St. Louis — then rushed to New York. Knight, however, was placed on long-term injured reserve Friday due to an injury from the Olympics.
