The rivalry between Texas A&M and Texas is so deeply ingrained that it extends far beyond the two programs. Even former players carry it with them, and on Saturday night, former Longhorn and current UCLA Bruin Will Gasparino proved just how lasting that grudge can be.
Gasparino may be thousands of miles away with a new team, but that hasn’t softened how he feels about the guys in Maroon & White. After launching a three‑run homer that effectively put the game out of reach in the bottom of the sixth, he turned toward the Aggie dugout and delivered a mean mug that felt personal. Call it taunting or just part of the competitive fire, but either way, he earned the right to let it fly.
When asked about the moment after the game, Gasparino didn’t hide from it.
“I don’t go to Texas anymore, but I still don’t like those guys. I think I owed it to those guys to put [A&M] to sleep early”
Old habits die hard, and Saturday was another reminder that the Lone Star rivalry runs deep—no matter where a player ends up. So far, Texas remains undefeated on the year, while the Aggies, who, like most teams, were due for a loss, will look to learn their mistakes and hope to rebound against Arizona State on Sunday night.
For Will Gasparino, UCLA will continue to pummel its competition if this level of play continues for the former Longhorn.
