SEC basketball standings shift entering March

The SEC is college basketball’s best conference again. With just a couple of weeks before Selection Sunday for the NCAA Tournament, the SEC is projected to have 11 teams in March Madness. No conference has more teams projected to make the NCAA Tournament.

The Georgia Bulldogs are one of the SEC teams projected to make March Madness. Georgia (20-9, 8-8 SEC) needs another win or two to be an NCAA Tournament lock. The Bulldogs along with Auburn, Texas A&M, Texas, Missouri and Auburn are all on the NCAA Tournament bubble.

The Florida Gators, who are the defending national champions, have already clinched at least a share of the SEC regular season title. Behind Florida, a trio of other SEC teams are looking to secure a top-four seed in the SEC Tournament.

Before the NCAA Tournament will be the SEC Tournament, which will feature all 16 SEC teams. The SEC Tournament will be held March 11-15 in Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. The conference’s top eight teams all get first-round byes. The top four teams also get second-round byes and automatically advance to the quarterfinals on Friday, March 13.
