Lennart Karl is a little young to be dishing out advice to the next generation. After all, the Bayern Munich wonderkid is just newly turned 18.
But that’s just it. His rocketing to stardom this season has made him the example to follow for all the kids at the Bayern campus and beyond hoping to break through just like him, and just as early too.
Karl was happy to share what he’s learned, but he knows not to take it all for granted. Nor to give all the credit to himself.
“I’d say: believe in yourself,” Karl said in his Kicker interview this month, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “Of course, you need a family that’s 100% behind you. My parents used to drive me to training, a 45-minute drive each way. You also need a solid circle of friends and shouldn’t let yourself be talked into doing silly things like smoking. My friends are perfect; they always have my back. What I want to tell the kids is: always give it your all in every training session — that’s the most important thing.”
Wise words. The young winger seems like he has a great head on his shoulders. Here’s to his continued success at FC Bayern.
